The Level 2 NICU at MHS is the only Level 2 NICU outside of the Oklahoma City and Tulsa Metro areas, caring for infants born at or more than 32 weeks’ gestation and weighing more than 3lbs, 4oz, with certain physiologic immaturities.
Who cares for infants in the NICU?
Neonatal Nurses who are board-certified or trained in newborn resuscitation and stabilization, along with Lactation Specialists and Respiratory Therapists.
Where are unstable infants transferred?
If infants are deemed too unstable for management at Comanche County, the Neonatologist or nurse practitioner will discuss transfer to the Children’s Hospital, OU Medical Center.
